Ordering a portrait commission
If you would like to commission a portrait (any subject) please contact me with your details and requirements.
My black and white portraits are created in professional quality graphite on Bristol Board. Coloured work is on Clairefontaine Pastelmat using either (professional quality) coloured pencils or pastels/pastel pencils.
Each portrait will be professionally mounted with a backing board and will be supplied in a nice basic frame, ready to hang on the wall. Any portrait that requires shipping will have perspex, not glass, for safety reasons. Please note, I do not charge extra for framing, its a service I offer commissions for free. It not only means you have a ‘complete’ gift for your loved one or yourself, but also offers a protective way of transporting something that has had your hard-earned money and many hours of my hard work put into it. Should you wish to get your own frame later, it will be very easy for you to carefully transfer the whole mounted piece from the frame provided into one the same size.
Once we have discussed your requirements, I will require a 20% non-refundable* deposit upon booking, at which I will block the time in my schedule for your piece. The balance must be paid on completion before I will release for shipping.
Reference photos
I aim to be as realistic and detailed as possible in my portrait work, therefore the quality of the reference photo provided is very important to get a good result. I will need a good quality, in focus photograph/photographs to work from. I am very happy for you to email me a selection of images for advise on which will work best if you are unsure. I am also happy to come and take reference photos if you are local and feel you might not have something suitable.
Pricing
Prices below are for a single-subject, head and shoulders portrait. Sizes shown are the mount sizes, and the portrait will be drawn at a good size to fit nicely within the mount window. Prices include UK shipping or local delivery. I also ship internationally, so please enquire with details for a quote for shipping outside of the UK.

Please contact me for a quote if your requirements are different. i.e. you want additional subjects or a background included, or you’d like a larger size. Any quotes will be valid for 3 months.
* Deposits are non-refundable, except if I have to cancel for unforeseen circumstances. Should this happen I will issue an immediate refund of your deposit in full.
